Fishing skills in Lineage 2: description
This article systematizes everything related to fishing in Lineage 2: from basic mechanics and active skills for landing fish to useful "quality" upgrades for inventory, storage, shops, and recipe books. This material is based on server configuration parameters and reflects the actual logic of skill operation: character level requirements, learning costs, gradual increase in effectiveness, and practical implications for farming.
The roles of Fishing, Reeling, and Pumping in the fishing minigame are discussed separately, as well as the "ranked" Fishing Expertise as access to gear and spots. For convenience, up-to-date tables and explanations for the Proof of Catching a Fish item, which is used to upgrade QoL skills, are provided. The goal is to give players clear guidelines: what to prioritize, how to manage costs, and at what point it makes sense to advance to the next fishing tier. If you're a beginner fisherman and would like to learn more about fishing, we have a separate introductory article— Fishing in Lineage 2.
Fishing & Pumping Skills
Fishing is the basic active fishing skill (type FISHING, target SELF). It initiates the fishing process itself: it puts the character into fishing mode, casts the fishing rod, and initiates a reeling-in minigame.
How it works: When you press the button, the character starts fishing with the selected bait; then you control the landing using skills.
Reeling
и
Pumping, until you “finish off” the fish scale.
Pumping is an active fishing skill (type PUMPING, target SELF) used in the landing minigame to sharply increase the fish's score. It works as a forceful point gain, especially effective when the line is slack.
The skill has 27 levels; its power (power) grows in stages from 24 at level 1 to 155 at 27 (intermediate values are almost without gaps: 24, 37, 50, 62, 70, 76 … 149, 155).
In terms of gameplay, Pumping is a "hit" on the scale, whereas Reeling — a stable retrieve; the optimal tactic is to alternate them: tighten the Reeling, and at moments when the fish is “weak” or you need to quickly make progress, press the Pumping.
Downloading is recommended in parallel with Reeling, so as not to hit the weak link: high Pumping with low Reeling (or vice versa) gives a less stable result than a balanced pumping of both.

Reeling skill
Reeling is an active fishing skill (type REELING, target SELF), performed while fishing. Each use "reels in the line" and reduces the fish's "strength/stamina"; the higher the skill level, the greater the effect.
Levels: 27. Ability Power (power) grows in stages: from 24 at level 1 to 155 At level 27 (the intermediate values are practically seamless: 24, 37, 50, 62, 70, 76, … 149, 155). This is a server formula coefficient: the actual "damage" on the fish scale also depends on the rod, bait, and type of fish, but increasing the level always provides a noticeably more powerful boost.

Fishing Expertise
Fishing Expertise is a passive "ranked" skill for the fisherman (SELF target) that increases your fishing skill levelThere's no need to activate it: once learned, it's permanent and is counted by the system as a fisherman's "qualification."
What does it mean in terms of gameplay:
- is a requirement for learning the higher levels of the Reeling and Pumping related skills.
- In most builds, it serves as a "pass" to better equipment (rods/lures) and more advanced zones/fish species.
- sometimes (depending on the specific server) gives soft bonuses to fishing success and/or reduces the chance of failure.

Fishing Skills in Lineage 2: Craft & QoL Expansion
Expand Dwarven Craft — increasing the limit of dwarven recipe slots
Expand Dwarven Craft is a passive QoL skill (type BUFF, target SELF), which Permanently increases the dwarven recipe slot limit (DwarfRecipeLimit) in the crafting book. You don't need to enable it; the effect is always active and can't be removed. These are the slots where you write down the crafting of weapons, armor, and resources.
Available 8 levels; each level sets final Increase in the number of available dwarven recipes:
- Level 1 - +6 cells
- Level 1 - +12 cells
- Level 1 - +18 cells
- Level 1 - +24 cells
- Level 1 - +30 cells
- Level 1 - +36 cells
- Level 1 - +42 cells
- Level 1 - +48 cells
The values are not summed up by levels: for example, at level 6 the final bonus is exactly + 36, and not 6+12+…+36.

In total there are 8 levels of this skill. Each level adds exactly +1 slot simultaneously to the list of items sold and bought in your private store. However, it's worth noting important information. On most servers, this mechanic is intentionally cut, leaving only three levels available for leveling.

The practical minimum for comfortable fishing is the simultaneous upgrading of Reeling and Pumping while steadily increasing Fishing Expertise; these three determine the speed and reliability of your landings. The second line is QoL skills: expanding your inventory and warehouse reduces logistics costs, while expanding your shop and recipe book increases the flexibility of trading and crafting.
All in all, this provides a predictable income and saves time, which is especially noticeable during long farming sessions. If you need a place to test your build and perfect your route, consider L2 server announcements — there you will find sites where you can safely try out everything described.
