Needle Stakato
Deeper in the Swamp of Screams, a more fearsome breed reigns supreme—the Needle Stakato, whose needle-like mandibles and barbed limbs give them their name. They are far stronger and more vicious than their Shardkin kin, and will unhesitatingly attack anyone who enters their domain near the Wall of Argos; their tough carapace repels slashing steel but cracks and crumbles under the weight of blunt weapons.
Defeated Needle Stacatos drop durable Metallic Fiber, useful to skilled craftsmen, and Greater Herb of Life and Greater Herb of Mana, which restore body and magical power, are helpful in battle. These creatures are invariably among the targets of the Mercenary Force's Hunt of the Golden Ram and the Clean up the Swamp of Screams quest, which calls for cleansing the swamps of their infestation.
