Hunter Bear

In the forests and foothills where the footsteps of the first settlers still recollect, the hunting bear roams—a powerful yet surprisingly docile beast that prefers fish in streams and sweet roots to fighting humans. It will not attack first and will give strangers a wide berth unless they encroach on its domain; only when wounded or hunted does it reveal the full strength slumbering in its broad paws.

The skin and sinews of this beast have long been used by artisans: its body yields strong thread suitable for sewing and bowstrings, and sometimes rare herbs of life and mana, grown in the bear's dens, are found among the spoils. Hunters say that killing such a beast needlessly is a bad omen, for it is not an enemy, but merely the master of the local thickets.
