Deprived
The Depriv is a product of pure magical elemental power, an ethereal creature that took form in places where the line between the living world and the currents of primordial power has become thin. Neither beast nor spirit, it exists solely to consume and drain everything it touches—its very name speaks of the deprivation and emptiness it brings. This creature is hostile and restless: upon sighting a living being, it rushes toward them to draw out the warmth of life and magic.
When the fragile shell of the depriva crumbles under the blows, healing herbs, bones, and animal hides are found among the settling energy—strange trophies for a creature that itself has no flesh, like traces of those it has previously consumed. Hunters who compose the Song of the Hunter seek out this magical beast, for defeating this ethereal devourer of power is a test not so much of the sword as of the spirit.
